This past weekend, we visited the Hehuan Mountain, one of the highest mountain in Taiwan, to test our new e-bike system Shimano E6100.
The new e-bike model along with Panaracer Pasela 700X38 tires, disc break, and Shimano Internal Gearbox Alfine 8 speed Di2 automatic shifting, makes mountain riding so comfortable and much more intuitive.
We drive with car to the point of 2000 meter altitude and start riding uphill to about 2700 meters. Although the Shimano systems was doing alright and was only taking about half of the battery, the other e-bike system Zehus starting to slowdown and fail to continue the journey. (Zehus system is much more lighter and more suitable for a flatter urban landscape.)
Although cycling with e-bike is pedal assisted, it’s still an exercise after all and good for our health, both mentally and physically. It allows more of us to explore a wider range of natures, no matter we are going up hills, with loads, or over distances.

I had the opportunity to take one of the bikes home this week, the Alfine 11 version.
I found it an enjoyable ride – neither too stiff nor too soft, basically you can forget about the frame while you’re riding it – the way it should be for a city bike – until you catch a glimpse of it underneath you and remember how good it looks.
In conclusion, it’s a beautiful frameset, and I would have a lot of fun deciding on the perfect parts selection to build it up just the way I wanted it.
