AOI.CYCLE at EUROBIKE 2023: Rethinking Everyday Cycling

From Taiwan to Europe, a meeting place for craftsmanship, conversation and the enduring pleasure of riding.

A bicycle show is never only about bicycles. It is a place where ideas are exchanged, materials are examined at close range, and conversations begin around the simple question of how we want to move through everyday life.

At EUROBIKE 2023, AOI.CYCLE brought a selection of our handcrafted bicycles from Taiwan to meet riders, designers and bicycle enthusiasts from across Europe. Against the movement and energy of the exhibition hall, our stand offered a quieter invitation: to slow down, look closely and discover the character held within every detail.

A bicycle reveals its character slowly—in the materials you touch, the details you notice and the journeys you choose to make together.

Visitors were naturally drawn to the distinctive silhouettes of the bicycles. Curved stainless steel frames, warm wooden elements, polished components and carefully selected leather details came together in forms that felt both familiar and unexpected. Some paused to study the construction. Others reached out to feel the materials, asked about the making process or compared the individual grains of the wooden parts.

These moments of curiosity are important to us. AOI.CYCLE bicycles are designed to be understood not only from a distance, but through closer observation. The precision of a joint, the transition between wood and metal, the balance of a frame and the feel of a bicycle beneath the rider all reveal decisions that cannot be communicated through specifications alone.

Throughout the exhibition, conversations moved easily between design, engineering and everyday use. We spoke about stainless steel and its lasting qualities, about the warmth and individuality of natural wood, and about creating bicycles that can remain meaningful beyond a single season. Visitors shared their own ways of riding—from daily journeys through the city to leisurely weekend routes—and considered how an AOI.CYCLE might become part of those routines.

A trade show is often associated with what comes next. New technologies, new products and new directions compete for attention. Yet our time at EUROBIKE also affirmed the value of continuity: materials chosen for longevity, craftsmanship developed through repetition, and objects made with enough care to grow more personal over time.

The most memorable part of the event was not simply displaying finished bicycles. It was watching people encounter them. A closer look became a question; a question became a conversation; and sometimes a conversation continued with a test ride. In those exchanges, the distance between our workshop in Taiwan and riders in Europe became remarkably small.

EUROBIKE 2023 gave us the opportunity to share the thinking behind AOI.CYCLE in person. More importantly, it reminded us that a bicycle is never complete when it leaves the workshop. Its story continues through the people who notice it, ride it and choose to make it part of their lives.
