Many bicycles today are presented through speed, novelty, battery figures, or the promise of next year’s upgrade. AOI.CYCLE chooses a quieter direction. We see the bicycle as part of everyday life—a product that can be ridden, touched, maintained, repaired, and lived with over time.

A city bicycle lives a very real life. It encounters uneven roads, rain, heat, crowded storage spaces, and the changing habits of its owner. Time is not always gentle. It exposes careless decisions and reveals the true character of a material. It shows whether quality was merely a surface promise, or whether it was built into the foundation of the entire product.
Since AOI.CYCLE was founded in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 2010, we have regarded the bicycle as a product shaped by craft—not as a machine made to be quickly replaced.
A bicycle that still feels right after many years does more than prove that its appearance has lasted. It confirms something simpler and more important: that it was made with enough care from the beginning to continue moving forward.
This is where a design philosophy centred on materials and essentials begins to reveal its value.
AOI.CYCLE is known for its SUS304 stainless steel frames, distinctive wooden details, and curved frame language shaped by patented geometry and welding techniques. These elements give the bicycle a clear presence without making it overly conspicuous.
Craft is not treated as decoration. The structure itself is allowed to speak.
Stainless steel deserves to be described honestly. It is not a magical material, and it should never be presented as completely immune to corrosion. But when it is properly selected, formed, welded, finished, used, and cared for, it carries a certain sense of permanence.
That sense of permanence reflects AOI.CYCLE’s understanding of long-term ownership.
The fact that the frame is handmade in Taiwan matters because a handmade frame preserves decisions made at a human scale: proportion, line, surface, curvature, and the way one material meets another.
These details are quiet. Most people may not be able to name them immediately. Yet they influence how a bicycle feels beneath the rider, and how it grows older over time.
The final assembly in Germany adds another layer to the bicycle’s identity.
This is why, when the bicycle was photographed in Germany, the image needed very little explanation. The glass architecture, the urban ground, and the bicycle resting quietly within the city already made its position clear.
It is shaped by Taiwanese craftsmanship and prepared for European riding environments. Everyday mobility, environmental conditions, safety standards, design sensitivity, and long-term serviceability each carry their own importance.
The relationship between Taiwan and Germany is not simply a slogan.
It is part of the bicycle’s identity.
And then, there is wood.
Placed beside stainless steel, wood changes the temperature of the bicycle. Stainless steel is restrained, calm, and precise. Wood is warmer and softer, carrying the living character of its grain.
The eye recognises this contrast before the hand reaches for it. The hand understands it immediately.
This is not an accidental decorative choice. It is part of the moment when a bicycle becomes more than a tool and begins to become an object of daily life.
It is not only used.
It becomes something its owner wishes to live alongside.
A bicycle that remains meaningful after ten years is about more than durability. It is about whether its owner still wants to keep it. Whether the materials still feel honest and dependable. Whether its form remains beautiful after trends have faded. Whether its details still make someone pause for a second look, or reach out and touch them.

Each AOI.CYCLE model is tested in accordance with relevant European standards, including EN 14764, ISO 4210, and EN 15194. But standards are only one part of the story.
The deeper test takes place over time: on the morning commute, in the space where the bicycle is stored, during the process of maintenance, and in the quiet decision to trust the same bicycle year after year.
AOI.CYCLE does not need exaggerated promises. Stainless steel does not need to be called indestructible, and a bicycle should never be described as maintenance-free.
